halloween time

The week of Halloween we took the kids to trick or treat at the convention center. They had treats and games

Halloween night we carved pumpkins and went out for trick or treating in our neighborhood.

I'm married to Indiana Jones ;)

We got stopped by a police officer who opened his trunk and handed the kids some toys

my awesome pumpkins. I love painting them

I ended up making Sophie's costume. she wanted to be princess brave. I think it turned out cute. I used an old curtain for the cape, the gold fabric was an old blouse and I bought the green velvet and trim

Evie had two costumes. Snow white and tinkerbell

She wore this for like a week straight.

We also did some cute Halloween activities. Like making slime

spider cupcakes

and milk jug ghosts, pretty cool when you add glow sticks.

Pumpkin picking

we love to pick unusual pumpkins every year. this year we went with peach and blue-green pumpkins from the pumpkin patch and got big orange carving ones at Walmart.

We went to a farm that had hay rides, farm animals and many other activities.

I'm not sure what this little contraption is called, but it takes the kernels off the husk.

Kids had so much fun taking turns on it. funny, when I was little we use to do this by hand. sitting around rubbing the kernels off with our thumbs. Back when my dad use to farm.

First day of School and Butterflies

Once again, the kids start a new year in a new school. this is getting crazy. this will be nicks 6th! school. wow. and Sophie's second school. Next year she will transfer again to kindergarten.

4th grade

First bus ride

Sophie's First day of her second year of Pre-school.

and then, her first school bus ride ever.

We had the great pleasure of attending the Oak Grove Butterfly Festival. They set free thousands of viceroy and monarch butterflies.

They had tons of activities, entertainment and displays. kids loved it

A Butterfly landed on Sophie's flower dress.

As the Indian Legend Goes;

If anyone desires a wish to come true they must first
capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it.

Since a butterfly can make no sound, the butterfly can not reveal
the wish to anyone but the Great Spirit who hears and sees all.

In gratitude for giving the beautiful butterfly its freedom,
the Great Spirit always grants the wish.

So, according to legend, by making a wish and giving the butterfly its freedom,
the wish will be taken to the heavens and be granted.

Today we have gathered to grant this couple all our best wishes and are about to set these
butterflies free in the trust all these wishes will be granted.
